The Tarot can be very intimidating for people who are first learning. Trust me, I know – it took 7 years before I started listening to my own intuition and definitions of the cards. But that was because I didn’t have anyone to tell me that it was okay to find my own meanings.
So today, I am going to tell you if a meaning jumps out at you for a card, it is OK to go with it. You already know everything you need to know to start reading the Tarot right now.
How can I say that? The Tarot is made of symbols that everyone from every culture has learned for thousands of years. Anyone who looks at a heart already has meanings associated with it. A wand is also a familiar concept, and even seeing a bunny or squirrel will evoke certain ideas or thoughts.
Look at the card below from the Rider-Waite-Smith deck. What are these people doing? What are they thinking or feeling? Put yourself in the card – talk to them, become them. Tell a story about it. It doesn’t matter if it “seems” right or not. What matters is that it feels true to you.
Maybe it reminds you of a childhood friend, and you feel nostalgic.
Perhaps you notice the boy giving the girl flowers, and you wish your husband would bring you home flowers or be more romantic.
Perhaps you see all of the vases around, and how everyone on the cards looks happy, and you long for a simpler time, when things were easier.
Notice how all of these definitions have one thing in common – they depend on the person and her situation. Each interpretation is correct as long as it rings true for the person receiving the reading.
Now it’s your turn. Choose a card and see what meaning it has in store for you. Let me know in the comments below.
